About Hollywood Transformation and how it all began…

The Story Behind the Documentary

Hollywood Transformation began with a series of six revelations within a 30-minute time span where God showed Wolfgang Kovacek in August 2001, while he waited for prayer leaders to come to a meeting at Hollywood Presbyterian church on Gower in the heart of Hollywood, what would happen through the intercession of God’s people for the entertainment industry.

A simple question “What is God’s will for the entertainment industry?” moved this project forward from a few interesting interviews with industry experts to intriguing research of the spiritual roots of Hollywood that revealed why the entertainment industry became so glamorous yet so fallen.

In early 2002, our small team of filmmakers, led by Wolfgang Kovacek and co-directors Phil and Karen Snyder, found themselves increasingly fascinated by the background and influence of satanic rituals over Hollywood. A counter-movement based upon prayer and holiness started to take shape and emerge.

From Concept to Camera

Armed with nothing but a treatment, a few industry contacts, and unwavering determination, we began reaching out to people who had already been praying for Hollywood, some of them for decades. To our surprise, we encountered people who were eager to speak about their experiences – even about their international encounters and the accursed image that Hollywood had acquired in the nations.

What we discovered was far more complex than we anticipated: stories of incredible passion for the entertainment industry coupled with deep faith and a belief that God could transform this industry into something Holy and wholesome, family-friendly, and healthy for children to watch.

Challenges and Breakthroughs

Production wasn’t without its challenges. Several high-profile subjects withdrew their financial support. Studio access had to be repeatedly changed. Our funding nearly ran dry midway through filming.

The turning point came when Karen Snyder reached out to several dancers, who all congregated together in the film studio and Phil Snyder tirelessly directed and filmed some of the core impacting scenes of Hollywood Transformation.  Their candor in dance together with their artistry and expression created a domino effect, encouraging others to share their stories with honesty and conviction.

Vision Takes Shape

As filming progressed, our focus evolved beyond the superficial glitzy aspects of the entertainment industry to explore the deeper spiritual implications: Was there a transformation of Hollywood being born?

Through in-depth interviews, behind-the-scenes footage from a spiritual Hollywood bus tour, and expertly curated archival material, Hollywood Transformation offers an unprecedented look at the intersection of God’s desire, the faith of people working in Hollywood, and human limitation in the entertainment industry.

The Team

Our documentary team combines diverse backgrounds in filmmaking, journalism, faith and prayer, and the entertainment industry. This interdisciplinary approach allowed us to examine the phenomenon of Hollywood Transformations from multiple perspectives, creating a more nuanced and comprehensive exploration.

Hollywood Transformation – The Power of Prayer
A Documentary that transcends time!

Historical Notes:

In November 2002 Wolfgang was invited to present at the International Prayer Council in South Africa about Hollywood Transformation, which had just received its final editing. Over 300 attendees from 70 nations saw a 4 minute clip and then Wolfgang prayed for Hollywood. After he had finished thirty people came forward, who were national prayer leaders and who admitted that they had always cursed Hollywood, but now realized that they needed to start praying for Hollywood. And so prayer started in the nations around the globe for Hollywood at the end of 2002.

The documentary “Hollywood Transformation” was nominated in 2004 for the ADAM award at the Sabaoth International Film Festival in Milan, Italy.

Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ” stunned Hollywood with its unprecedented success when it was released on February 25, 2004. The controversial biblical epic, which depicted the final hours and crucifixion of Jesus Christ in graphic detail, was independently financed by Gibson himself after major studios declined to back the project. Despite opening midweek during Lent with dialogue entirely in Aramaic, Latin, and Hebrew, the film grossed $83.8 million in its first weekend and went on to earn over $370 million domestically and $612 million worldwide. With a production budget of just $30 million, it became one of the most profitable R-rated films in history and demonstrated the immense untapped potential of the faith-based audience.

The overwhelming success of “The Passion of the Christ” prompted major Hollywood studios to establish dedicated faith-based film divisions to capitalize on this newly recognized market. Fox created FoxFaith in 2006, focusing on producing and distributing Christian-themed content. Sony followed suit with its Affirm Films division, which later released successful faith-based titles like “Heaven Is for Real” and “War Room.” Lionsgate partnered with Codeblack Films for faith-based content, while Warner Bros. occasionally collaborated with religious organizations on select projects. These specialized divisions aimed to create authentic content that would resonate with religious audiences while maintaining production values that could appeal to mainstream viewers, fundamentally changing how Hollywood approached faith-based filmmaking.

About “A Line in the Sand” and how it all began…

Rosh Hashanah on October 3, 2024, The Cross TV Network organized a celebration for the beginning of the Jewish New Year, called an “Encounter With Our Heavenly Father”.
While at home, the Lord alerted Wolfgang that he needed to drive to the studio of The Cross TV for that celebration, as HE (The Lord) had something there for him. The moment Wolfgang entered the studio, Dr. Joseph Nassralla, the founder of The Cross TV, asked him to pray. While the cameras were filming and the network broadcasted worldwide Wolfgang prayed for about two minutes and then went to one of the back rows to sit down. A gentleman in the same row walked towards Wolfgang, laid hands on him, and said: “You will be seen by many many people!”

The next day Wolfgang received a phone call from Dr. David Andrade, the founder of Global Net TV, who had watched the broadcast from the previous night from Decatur, Illinois, and had seen him pray and asked Wolfgang if he would like to be the host for a TV show on the Cross TV and Global Net TV, called “A Line in the Sand”. Because the Lord alerted Wolfgang that HE had something for him at that “New Year’s Celebration”, and the man prophesied to him (“You will be seen by many many people!”), Wolfgang accepted the invitation to host a TV show that could be seen by potentially 250 million households across the world.

“A Line in the Sand” – a TV Experience with Wolfgang Kovacek

“A Line in the Sand” hosted by Wolfgang Kovacek stands as a unique platform in Christian television, providing Born Again Christian Believers an opportunity to share their supernatural encounters with God. The program’s intimate format creates a space where guests openly discuss their personal journeys of faith, miraculous experiences, and divine interventions that have shaped their spiritual lives. With each episode reaching potentially 250 million households through The CrossTV and Global NetTV networks, the show has become a conduit for sharing testimonies of God’s power and presence in the modern world.

At the heart of each episode, Wolfgang guides his guests through five distinct segments, beginning with an opportunity for praise. Guests often express their worship in various ways, with some choosing to sing songs of adoration to the Lord. This opening creates an atmosphere of reverence before transitioning to the segment on repentance, where guests humbly share areas of their lives where they’ve experienced God’s transformative forgiveness—acknowledging that true repentance itself is a divine gift that changes hearts and redirects lives.

The intercession segment takes viewers beyond personal testimonies into global spiritual concerns. Each episode highlights five different nations specifically chosen because the Holy Spirit has placed these countries on the guest’s heart. This powerful segment invites viewers to join in prayer for global needs, creating a sense of spiritual connection that transcends geographical boundaries and unites believers worldwide in purposeful intercession. Wolfgang skillfully draws out his guests’ passion for these nations, allowing the audience to glimpse how the Holy Spirit guides believers’ concerns for the world.

Perhaps the most compelling portion of the program is dedicated to “Modern Day Miracles,” where guests usually share two personal testimonials of supernatural interventions they’ve directly experienced—events that defy natural explanation and point unmistakably to divine action. These accounts range from physical healings and financial provision to divine protection and spiritual transformation, all highlighting God’s active involvement in believers’ everyday lives. Wolfgang’s thoughtful questioning helps guests articulate these experiences in ways that both honor the miraculous nature of the events while making them accessible to viewers who may be skeptical or unfamiliar with supernatural testimonies.

Each episode culminates with guests delivering a “Rhema Word”—a specific, timely message they believe the Holy Spirit has impressed upon their hearts for the global audience—followed by Wolfgang asking his guest to extend an invitation to viewers who don’t yet know Jesus Christ personally. This closing invitation to surrender one’s life to the Lord provides a meaningful conclusion to the program, offering viewers not just inspiring stories of God’s work but a direct opportunity to begin their own relationship with Christ. Through this format, “A Line in the Sand” serves not only as a platform for sharing testimonies but as an active instrument for spiritual outreach across the world.
